I am always in awe when I see their work, it is truly a feast to the senses. The colors, the textures and how they combine it to make it not only look great but taste absolutely delicious. Get to know them a little bit, while you take a look at the delicious menu they prepared for the RGV wedding vendors launch project…enjoy!
How did you start your journey as a Caterer?
As far back as I can remember, I have been asked to plan the menu, set the theme or cook something special for family events. After working many years with a large corporation, I was ready to take the plunge and start my own business. Members of my family have been in the restaurant business in one form or another. It just seemed natural to open a catering company. I love the creativity of designing the menu, trying out new recipes, creating a stunning display and the satisfaction of knowing that I helped make someone’s event special.
We would love to hear a favorite moment from an event you catered:
My favorite memory is when my company was asked to cater a reception for the President of the United States. It was such an honor and a learning process. The reception went great! And, then to be asked to do it again, WOW. The highlight came from my peers, the White House foodservice staff that traveled with the President both times. After the event, they presented me with a Royal blue apron with the Presidential Seal and the logo “White House Foodservice”, along with a bottle of Champagne with the seal. What a compliment! I have never popped the cork on the champagne and the apron is proudly framed in my office.
3 things that you love:
That is so easy to answer, my family. I am blessed to have a wonderful husband and business partner, who tolerates all my quirks and makes me laugh everyday. My two sons are the joy of my life and keep me focused. It’s corny to say, but those three guys – complete me. That’s three, but I have a passion for desserts, especially ice cream. At all our events, I am the person who is either decorating desserts, helping cut the wedding cake, and the thought of Crème Brule, oh my goodness!
3 things that bug you:
I consider myself a pretty tolerant and easy going person, so it is usually the little things that bug me. I guess if I have to pick three things that bug me, the first one would be not letting someone know when we are out of something. It does really bug me to go look for something and find out it’s either empty or gone. (I’m not pointing fingers at anyone in my family!). Now that I am really thinking about it… It bugs me when words are mis-spelled in the newspaper, come on – of all places, they should spell check.
